XceedID Corporation Announces New XACTT Technology For Multi-Technology Readers
Automated Credential Transition Technology Eliminates Manual Enrollment When Upgrading to Contactless Smart Cards
Golden, CO (May 19, 2005) - XceedID Corporation announced a new, automated upgrade technology for companies migrating from proximity cards to contactless smart cards. The patent pending XACTT (XceedID Automated Credential Transition Technology) eliminates time consuming, error prone and cumbersome manual enrollment of new credentials into security system software and panels.
Using XACTT technology eliminates the requirement of a dedicated card programming station, and removes the typical enrollment requirement of the new contactless smart card at the head-end security workstation. The three-step automated upgrade process takes approximately 10 seconds per user. The new technology provides a convenient, cost effective and seamless migration path from virtually all HID proximity cards to secure contactless smart cards.
"New credential deployment can be very costly,” said John Menzel, President and CEO of XceedID. “Raw credentials are typically obtained for only a few dollars each, but actual administration and deployment of credentials is typically in excess of $20 per user. With this in mind, XceedID sought to remove a significant portion of the deployment cost so that customers could move to higher security and higher functionality contactless smart card technology at their own pace and with reasonable budgets."
The technology capability comes standard in XceedID ISOX Multi-Technology readers (model numbers XF1100, XF2100 and XF2110). The automated upgrade feature is utilized when a company installs ISOX readers for use with existing HID proximity cards. After installing ISOX readers, the customer may deploy newer ISOX secure contactless smart cards at any time in the future. A customer can use a mixed population of older HID proximity cards and new contactless cards simultaneously. Alternatively, if the customer chooses to migrate to contactless smart cards and totally eliminate proximity cards, the implementation is simple.
XceedID Multi-Technology ISOX readers are compatible with most GE/Casi ProxLite® and HID® proximity credentials. The readers are also compatible with most ISO14443 and ISO15693 compliant contactless smart cards including Philips MIFARE® and Infineon my-d®. The ISOX reader line is expected to be compliant with the United States Government Smart Card Interoperability Specification (GSC-IS v2.1) during the fourth quarter of 2005.
